Elwood the elephant

Welcome to Burntwood RUFC's newest recruit.
He was unveiled at the club's Patrons Day last Saturday by club President Rob Forsyth and Patrons' Secretary Ray Gleave.
He will become part of the St. Giles Hospice March of the Elephants community project which will be staged during the summer months. There will be about 60 elephant sculptures on display around Lichfield, Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield.
Elwood's artwork was designed by Lesley Bayliss and painted by Emily Brunker. We thank both ladies for making a superb job of kitting him out as a front row forward.
There will be fundraising activities to follow after the hospice collects all the sculptures to mount a publicity campaign so look out for the latest news on local news sites and even BBC Midlands news.
Finally for now, many thanks to Darren Smail who had the winning ticket for the last try scorer in the England v Ireland (Ireland 11) Six Nations' fixture and kindly donated the £50 prize to the hospice.
