He had a lifelong involvement with the club as a player, volunteer, committee man and patron for over 40 years.
His playing career as a prop forward came to an abrupt end when he suffered a serious leg fracture in a fixture away at Trentham.
His committee roles included Players' Representative (1982-83), Additional Member (1983-85), Chair of the House Committee (1985-86) and Club Captain (1988-89). He represented the club as our representative on the Staffs Senior Clubs' Committee during this time.
He worked diligently as the club groundsman for several seasons for which he was honoured at the SRU Valued Volunteer Awards event as the club's Volunteer of the Year in 2018.
He was a great rugby tourist who also enjoyed trips to international rugby fixtures at home and abroad.
He had not been in the best of health in recent months with mobility issues following a stroke but his passing has still come as a shock to all who knew him.
