The final fixture of the weekend saw the u16's take on local rivals Rugeley at the Sportsway.
In a fixture that has gone both ways recently it was always going to be a tight encounter and with the added pinch of spice that one of theirs now plays for us, no team wanted to come second.
Burntwood started in their usual fashion by gifting a try to Rugeley in the opening minutes but then the game settled in for the tough contest it was always going to be.
Wood were up 12 - 5 at half time but according to the refs (we must've missed one of their tries somewhere) score line down 27 - 22 with about 3 minutes left.
Luckily for us Rugeley conceded a penalty and the Wood were over in the corner. The kick was converted so Burntwood just shaded the game 29 - 27.
Well done to all involved, its nice to get the season started with a win. ???
Thanks to all that came to watch as well, we had quite a crowd for an u16 game.
